THE INLAND SENTINEL
Thursday, September 9, 1880

The new Railroad building is now occupied. Location near west end of town, rise of ground; length 75 feet, width 36 feet, and one story high, conspicuous extended roof, whole outside painted, as if with mineral paint, and displaying fine brick chimneys. The east of the building faces the principal part of the town, giving a fine view, while the entrance is from south side of Front street. The hall leads across the width of the building, and turns in the middle to the right to the west end, leaving offices right and left. At the entrance to the left is the Cashier’s Office; to the right in the hall is the Stationery room, and next upon the same side is the Company’s Engineers’ department, where ample accommodation is provided for an extensive business. The southwest end is Mr. Onderdonk’s private office, with that of Mr. Revett, G.P.A., adjoining, and the Auditor’s department next room, all three offices having a delightful view of the river and scenery in the distance. Certainly this building is all that could be desired at present, and, no doubt will be enjoyed by the inmates and all doing business in the different offices. The respective offices are furnished with desks, tables, chairs, etc., from some Victoria establishment, and argues that even this Province can manufacture in a creditable manner.
