S.S. R.P. Rithet at Yale
BCA Catalogue No. HP049654
BCA Call No. C-03818
The R.P. Rithet was one of the sternwheelers that brought people and freight to Yale during the construction of the railway in British Columbia. Generally, the sternwheelers could not come to Yale as long as there was ice on the Fraser. This meant that the Interior of British Columbia was virtually cut off from the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island in winter when the presence of ice made navigation too hazardous. The R.P. Rithet was launched in 1882 and usually provided a link between Victoria and Yale. A closer view of the same vessel is also available.
