Yale was the scene of a number of fires during its history as the hub of railway operations between 1880 and 1885. The first, was the fire of July 27, 1880. The Inland Sentinel reported on the fire in its July 29, 1880 edition.

Yet another fire occurred about a year later, on August 18, 1881, with even more loss of property.
