According to The Inland Sentinel [February 19, 1885] The S.S. Skuzzy II was being built at Port Van Horne with machinery taken from the S.S. Skuzzy I. The boat was apparently built in 44 days for Andrew Onderdonk and used during the construction of the railway from the CPR from Savona to Eagle Pass. It seems that it provided board [meals] for the railway crews during construction. The men slept in tents along the lake shore.
